Foam rolling is a fantastic way to enhance mobility, alleviate soreness and improve overall movement quality. But once you’ve gained a certain level of size and strength, those cushy little rollers feel more like a pile of pillows than a deep tissue massage. How do we get the relief we need?

Just like your muscles adapt to heavier weight by getting stronger, your body adapts to the massaging effect of foam rolling, requiring more intense pressure to get your tissues to relax and loosen up. Two of my favorite tools for advanced foam rolling are the PVC pipe and lacrosse ball.
