Box jumps are a staple in many of my programs for all kinds of athletes. They develop sagittal plane power, teach rapid force application AND absorption, and require minimal equipment. But if there’s one thing that stresses me out like crazy, it’s athletes trying to jump on a box that’s too high. That’s an injury waiting to happen and you don’t get that much extra benefit from a higher box.
