I fell in love with lifting as a college athlete. I’ll never forget the feeling of empowerment I got when I started the first lifting program given to us by our baseball coach.
But here’s the thing – the plan was complete garbage.
It was a glorified bodybuilder routine. Too many sets, poor exercise selection, no warmup, the list goes on. Yeah, I got really strong, but it didn’t do much for me on the baseball field.
I made a lot of mistakes in the weight room as an athlete, and no doubt would have benefitted from a solid program and quality coaching. That’s why I became a strength coach – so I could give athletes the coaching and guidance that I never had.
